June 2025: Cut it up! & more

Hello artist friends,

I'm writing to you so late in the month because I've been experience a health problem and have been resting a lot between doctor's appointments. This post is going to be a bit of a hodge podge of what's surfaced for me during these quiet weeks. I hope it connects with you, and that you're doing and feeling well!

Art go-bag

My painting practice actually started about ten years ago when I was going through another set of health issues. I got to the point where leaving the house was hard, and sitting upright was hard, so I spent a lot of time alone, laying down. It was in this space that I started to sketch out my thoughts, and began making diagrams as a short hand way to get down my feelings and ideas when journal-style writing them all out felt like too much. Sketching in bed was a lifeline. It was a way to bear witness to my self even when my body scared and confused me, to keep living, to imagine a future where I could share my art with other people.
