Making Color 1.0

Making color is hands down one of my favorite parts of playing with art materials. I want to show you how I think about it and offer some ways that you can start to explore mixing satisfying colors.

I've found that the best way to begin color mixing is by asking what colors you can mix with the pigments you have, rather than asking how to mix a particular color. This advice might sound familiar because it’s my approach to beginning most things. Think of it as getting to know your supplies rather than controlling them. Once you know how to do this, you’ll know how to include new supplies into your studio practice and find out what they can do too.
